The new Auton Sunderland is opening
The transformation of Thornhill Park in Sunderland is now complete and ready to provide a safe, nurturing residential home for six more children.
It has a comfortable lounge and separate dining room, a homework room with computers and internet access, a games room and an arts and crafts room. As in all our Auton homes, residents have their own lockable bedrooms, which they can personalise with their own posters, toys and other belongings.
This new development means that our Auton homes now provide a total of 26 places for children and young people who have experienced multiple placement breakdowns in the past. In addition, Auton Lodge, on our Newcastle site, provides a "leaving care" facility - preparing our residents for the transition to independent living.
Auton Sunderland officially opens on 19 September and referrals are now being accepted.
